Patient sues over surgery for hidden penis syndrome

By Lhalie Castillo | Feb 13, 2018

EDWARDSVILLE — A patient alleges a Maryville doctor negligently performed a surgery to treat hidden penis syndrome.

Jason Durrett and Fayeta Durrett filed a complaint on Feb. 2 in the Madison County Circuit Court against R. Craig McKee, M.D., and R. Craig Mckee, M.D., LLC, alleging negligence.

According to the four-count complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on Feb. 4, 2016, McKee performed a dermatolipectomy surgery and re-suspension of the Mons for treatment of hidden penis syndrome on Jason Jurrett at Anderson Hospital in Maryville.

However, the plaintiffs allege the doctor failed to follow the standard of care or was otherwise negligent in the performance of the surgery. They claim McKee placed ethibond permanent sutures too close to corporal bodies, causing permanent pain, erectile dysfunction and nerve damage.

Following the surgery, Durrett alleges he repeatedly complained to McKee of pain, loss of sensation and erectile dysfunction.

The plaintiffs allege the doctor failed to evaluate, examine and/or diagnose the cause of Durrett’s post-surgical condition. They also claim McKee failed to timely obtain a referral to a urologist.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek damages of more than $50,000, plus costs of the action.

They are represented by Keith Short and John Daugherty of Law Office of Keith Short PC in Collinsville.
