Driver sues over Godfrey Township collision

Car accident 42

EDWARDSVILLE – A woman alleges a driver's failure to reduce her speed caused a rear-end collision in Godfrey Township.

Tammy D. Hatcher filed a complaint on Jan. 29 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Makenzy M. Lane, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Feb. 4, 2016, she was driving a 2006 Mercury vehicle traveling north on Humbert Road at its intersection with Tolle Lane in Godfrey Township when Lane negligently operated a 1999 Ford F150 truck and caused it to strike the rear of Hatcher's vehicle.

The plaintiff alleges she suffered extensive injuries to her neck, back, left leg and left hip and was obligated to expend large sums of money for medical care and treatment services.

The plaintiff alleges Lane failed to keep a proper lookout and failed to reduce speed, stop or maneuver her vehicle to avoid a collision.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant for a sum of more than $50,000, costs of court and all other relief that are just and proper.

She is represented by Rodney D. Caffey and Ralph J. Mendelsohn of The Caffey Law Firm in Godfrey.
