Driver alleges man ran red light in Madison County crash

EDWARDSVILLE – A man is seeking more than $50,000 in damages over alleged injuries sustained in a collision in Madison County.

David J. Beasley filed a complaint on Jan. 29 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Robert D. Abel, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Aug. 1, 2017, he was driving his motor vehicle in Madison County when the defendant negligently caused his vehicle to crash into the plaintiff's vehicle. 

Beasley alleges he suffered internal and external injuries, great pain and mental anguish, loss of earning capacity and medical expenses. 

The plaintiff alleges Abel recklessly drove through a red light, drove while distracted, failed to yield to the right of way and failed to keep proper lookout to avoid colliding with other vehicles.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount of more than $50,000, costs of court and all other remedies that are appropriate.
