EDWARDSVILLE — A father is suing a motorist for allegedly causing his daughter's death after he struck a tree while intoxicated.
Jeffrey W. Pile, individually and as special administrator of the estate of Taylor N. Pile, deceased, filed a complaint on Jan. 31 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Robert W. Siempelkamp, of Palmer, alleging he breached his duty to exercise reasonable care and caution while operating a motor vehicle.
According to the complaint, Taylor Pile, a 21-year-old nursing student, was riding as a passenger in Siempelkamp's 2012 Dodge Ram on Aug. 20, 2016, in Crawford County, Missouri. At approximately 8:40 p.m., the defendant lost control of the vehicle and caused it to collide with a sign and a tree.
Taylor Pile sustained serious injuries that resulted in her death on Aug. 24, 2016.
The plaintiff alleges Slempelkamp negligently drove his vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs and improperly travelled off the roadway.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages in an amount necessary to fully and fairly compensate the decedent's next kin.
He is represented by Bill T. Walker of Bill T. Walker Attorney and Counselor at Law in Granite City.
