Motorist claims Florilli Transportation driver's negligence caused Marion County collision

Car accident 14

BENTON – A Shobonier driver alleges the driver of a West Liberty, Iowa, company negligently and carelessly backed his tractor-trailer in an unsafe manner and caused a collision.

Jeffrey Stephenson filed a complaint on Jan. 17 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois against Florilli Transportation LLC and Louis Freemon, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Jan. 6, 2016, he was driving a 2010 Pontiac G-6 on Old Highway 51 in Marion County when he accidentally collided with a trailer that was blocking his lane. The suit states that the defendants' tractor-trailer blocked both lanes of the road as Freemon was attempting to turn around.

The plaintiff alleges he suffered severe and permanent personal injuries, pain and suffering, disability and loss of income.

The plaintiff holds Florilli Transportation LLC and Freemon responsible because defendant Freemon allegedly negligently operated in the oncoming lane of traffic.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages of more than $75,000, plus costs of this action.

He is represented by Alan G. Pirtle and James P. Lemonds of Brown & Crouppen PC in St. Louis, Missouri.
