Passengers allege insurer failed to pay following collision

Insurance 09

EDWARDSVILLE — Two passengers are suing Safeway Financial Holding Company for allegedly failing to pay insurance claims.

Leslie Steinkamp, individually and as next friend of Brandon Lewis, a minor, filed a complaint on Jan. 24 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Safeway Financial Holding Company, alleging the licensed insurer violated the covenant of good faith and fair dealing.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Feb. 8, 2016, Steinkamp and Lewis were passengers in a motor vehicle. The driver allegedly had an effective insurance policy issued by Safeway when they were struck by an uninsured motorist who fled the scene of the collision.

As a result, the plaintiffs claim they sustained bodily injuries and other losses and damages.

The plaintiffs allege Safeway has failed to respond to numerous communication attempts.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant for all damages they may be allowed under the law.

They are represented by Michael P. Glisson of Williamson, Webster, Falb & Glisson in Alton.
