EDWARDSVILLE – A woman alleges the owners of a Wood River property failed to repair an unsafe railing that caused her to fall.

Sarah J. Myers filed a complaint on Jan. 3 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Robert B. Bettorf and TB Holdings LLC, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Oct. 5, 2016, she was a guest at the defendants' premises when a railing broke from the structure, causing her to fall.

She alleges she sustained severe and permanent injuries that prevented her from attending to her usual duties and was caused to suffer lost wages, pain, mental anguish and medical expenses.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants allowed an unsafe and dangerous railing to exist and failed to warn their guests that a dangerous condition existed on the property.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages of more than $50,000, plus costs of this action and all further relief as the court may deem appropriate.

She is represented by Gregory M. Tobin of Pratt & Tobin PC in East Alton.
