Couple alleges driver failed to maintain careful lookout in Granite City crash

EDWARDSVILLE – A couple is seeking more than $50,000 over alleged injuries sustained in a rear-end collision in Granite City.

Steven M. Rippy and Lorretta F. Rippy filed a complaint on Jan. 25 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Jeremy D. Spiroff, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, on Jan. 22, 2017, they were in a motor vehicle traveling westbound on Pontoon Road in Granite City and were stopped near its intersection with Maryville Road when the defendant struck the rear of their vehicle. They allege they suffered bodily injuries that resulted in pain and suffering and medical expenses. 

The plaintiffs allege Spiroff improperly used interstate lanes, failed to maintain a careful lookout and failed to take evasive actions to avoid colliding with the plaintiffs vehicle.

The plaintiffs rseek damages of no less than $50,000, plus costs of this action and any further relief deemed just and equitable.
