Medical malpractice 05

BELLEVILLE – A woman alleges her sister's death was the result of a medical facility's negligence.

Monique Brooks, individually and as independent administrator of the estate of Roxanne Bradford, filed a complaint on Jan. 10 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against HSHS St. Elizabeth's Hospital, St. Louis University, et al., alleging wrongful death and medical negligence.

According to the complaint, Bradford was admitted to HSHS in February 2015. During her treatment, Bradford suffered cardiac arrest and a hypoxic ischemic brain injury involving both cerebral hemispheres. She died on Jan. 14, 2016, the suit states.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to recognize, monitor and assess the decedent's developing and ongoing change in circumstances and failed to timely initiate resuscitation of the decedent.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount of more than $50,000.

She is represented by Antoinette T. Schlapprizzi of Donald L. Schlapprizzi PC in St. Louis.
