Motorist sued over rear-end collision on state Route 157

EDWARDSVILLE – A driver alleges he suffered injuries when he was rear-ended in Edwardsville.

Francis Cassady filed a complaint on Jan. 16 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Brenda Phelps, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Feb. 26, 2016, he was driving a motor vehicle northbound on Illinois Route 157 in Edwardsville when Phelps struck the rear of his vehicle. 

As a result, he alleges he sustained injuries to his neck, chest, back, shoulder and other parts of his body.

The plaintiff alleges Phelps failed to maintain proper lookout, followed his vehicle too closely and failed to properly and timely apply brakes.

The plaintiff seeks damages of no less than $50,000, plus costs expended for this suit.
