Granite City Save-A-Lot customer alleges she was injured when box fell on her

EDWARDSVILLE – A patron of a Granite City supermarket alleges she was injured when a box fell on her while shopping.

Lisa Evans filed a complaint on Jan. 16 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Moran Foods LLC, doing business as Save-A-Lot, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Nov. 17, 2017, she was a paying customer at the defendant's store on Nameoki Road in Granite City. While attempting to remove an item from the shelf, the suit states a large box fell on her, causing her to suffer severe injuries.

The plaintiff alleges the defendant failed to inspect the premises to ensure that it was in a good, safe and/or proper condition and failed to warn patrons of the existence of any unsafe condition.

The plaintiff seeks damages in a fair and reasonable amount of more than $50,000, plus costs of this action.

She is represented by Thomas C. Rich, Kristina D. Cooksey and Michelle M. Rick of Rich, Rich & Cooksey PC in Fairview Heights.
