Wrongful death suit filed over fatal motorcycle collision in Jackson County

Car accident 23

EDWARDSVILLE — An estate representative alleges a Hartford man caused a fatal motorcycle collision in Jackson County.

Debbie J. Pickering, as representative of the estate of Lindle W. Pickering, deceased, filed a complaint on Jan. 10 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Christopher Robinson and Community Wholesale Tire Dis. Inc., alleging wrongful death.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on June 8, 2017, Lindle Pickering was driving a motorcycle on Illinois Route 4 when Robinson, an employee of Community Wholesale, carelessly made a left turn in front of Pickering, causing the motorcycle to collide with the passenger side of the defendants' truck. The suit states Pickering suffered life-threatening injuries that resulted in his death.

The plaintiff alleges Robinson recklessly entered the intersection when it was unsafe to do so, negligently used an electronic communication device while operating his vehicle and failed to yield to the right of way.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendants in an amount of more than $50,000, plus costs of suit.

She is represented by Lucas H. Liefer of Cooper & Liefer in Red Bud and Ryan D. Rich of Wham & Wham Lawyers in Centralia.
