Parents, child sue over Route 3 crash

Car accident 01

BELLEVILLE – A woman and her son allege they were injured following a Route 3 collision.

Jamie Simpson and Michael Goddard, individually and as parents of Gavin Simpson-Goddard, a minor filed a complaint on Jan. 9 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against South Central FS Inc., TLS Farmer Network LLC, Matthew Hornbostel and Effingham Clay Service Co., alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on Jan. 14, 2016, Jamie Simpson was operating her Ford Taurus with her son Gavin Simpson-Goddard as a passenger. They were traveling north on state Route 3 and approaching its intersection with South Prairie Road when Hornbostel, who was operating a 2012 Chevrolet Silverado for FS and South Central, struck the passenger side the Simpson's vehicle.

The plaintiffs allege they sustained permanent and lasting injuries, both internally and externally and incurred pain and suffering and medical expenses.

The plaintiffs allege Hornbostel failed to obey a traffic signal device and stop before entering the said intersection.

The plaintiffs seek judgment against each defendant in an amount of more than $50,000, plus costs of this action and any other remedies as the court deems proper.

They are represented by Michael L. McGlynn of McGlynn & McGlynn in Belleville.
