Son alleges father was exposed to asbestos during career, which caused cancer

Asbestos 04

BELLEVILLE – A man alleges his father's lung cancer death was caused by exposure to asbestos during his career.

Kary Fraser, individually and as special administrator of the estate of Harry Fraser, filed a complaint on Dec. 18, 2017, in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Alfa Laval Inc., Aurora Pumps Inc., Cooper Industries LLC, et al. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that at various times during plaintiff's decedent Harry Fraser's work from 1957 to 1999, he was exposed to and inhaled or ingested large amount of asbestos fibers emanating from certain products manufactured, sold, distributed or installed by defendants. The suit states that on or about Feb. 28, 2017, decedent first became aware that he developed lung cancer, an asbestos-induced disease, and that the disease was wrongfully caused. He passed away on Aug. 14, 2017, the suit states.

The plaintiff holds Alfa Laval Inc., Aurora Pumps Inc., Cooper Industries LLC, et al. responsible because the defendants allegedly intentionally included asbestos fibers in their products when adequate substitutes were available and failed to provide adequate warnings and instructions concerning the dangers of working with or around products containing asbestos fibers.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against defendants in an amount of more than $50,000. He is represented by Randy L. Gori of Gori, Julian & Associates PC in Edwardsville.
