BELLEVILLE – A Washington County woman alleges she suffered harm to her reputation because of false charges brought against her by two individuals.

Catherine LeGrand filed a complaint on Dec. 6 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Richard C. Schmidt Jr. and Mary G. Schmidt.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff was an office manager for Inland Technologies. LeGrand claims that on Sept. 12, 2014, the defendants falsely reported that she had deleted confidential company documents without authorization to the Millstadt Police Department. She alleges she was arrested and charged with two counts of computer tampering in St. Clair County. Both counts against her were dismissed on April 7, 2017, the suit states.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants' actions were wrongful and malicious and designed to embarrass and damage her.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages of more than $50,000, plus costs of this action.

She is represented by James E. DeFranco and Brittany P. Warren of DeFranco & Bradley PC in Fairview Heights.
