Man seeks damages from Envirochem after employee allegedly ran red light

Car accident 06

BELLEVILLE – A St. Clair County man is seeking damages after a collision with an Envirochem employee.

Michael Winters filed a complaint on Dec. 11 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Envirochem Inc. and Michaels Lefler, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Aug. 1, 2016, he was a passenger in a 2011 Nissan Sentra traveling westbound on Petroff Drive and attempting to turn left onto state Route 157. The suit states Lefler, who was driving a motor vehicle within the course and scope of his employment with Envirochem, disobeyed the red light traffic signal and collided with the front of plaintiff's vehicle.

Winters claims he sustained injuries to his head, neck and back as a result of the collision.

The plaintiff alleges Lefler failed to obey a red traffic light and failed to reduce his speed.

The plaintiff seeks compensatory damages of more than $50,000, plus costs of the action and any further relief that the court may deem just and necessary.

He is represented by Aaron M. Vogel of Schultz & Myers LLC in St. Louis.
