Patient alleges injuries to common bile duct

Medical malpractice 05

BELLEVILLE — A patient is suing medical service providers for allegedly causing injuries to her common bile duct.

Starlynn Holle filed a complaint on Nov. 6 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Donald S. Crouch, MD, and Lincoln Surgical Associates Ltd., alleging they failed to apply the knowledge and use the skills ordinarily used by qualified healthcare providers.

According to the complaint, Holle alleges that while she was under defendants' care, they allegedly failed to properly identify her cystic and bile ducts before clipping and transecting the duct. She claims they then carelessly performed cholangiogram after transecting the common bile duct.

She claims she sustained injuries to her common bile duct, resulting in pain and suffering, loss of a normal life and incurred medical and hospital expenses.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages of not less than $50,000, plus court costs.

She is represented by Joseph A. Bartholomew of Cook, Ysursa, Bartholomew, Brauer & Shevlin Ltd. in Belleville.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number 17-L-654
