Wrongful term 11

BELLEVILLE – A woman alleges she was terminated by her Belleville employer because of her age.

Marguritte LaPean filed a complaint on Nov. 8 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Belleville Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center Inc., doing business as Bria Healthservices of Belleville, citing the Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967.

According to the complaint, LaPean alleges that on Dec. 10, 2015, she was terminated by the defendant at the age of 64. She alleges that she was subjected to a hostile work environment and harassment because of her age and was replaced by a person younger than 40.

The plaintiff also claims she was terminated due to her reporting of the harassment and discrimination she experienced.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment in an amount of more than $50,000 and award all other costs as justice requires.

She is represented by Michael J. Brunton and Mary M. Stewart of Brunton Law Offices PC in Collinsville.
