EDWARDSVILLE – A Bethalto woman alleges a patient's medical condition was not responded to in an immediate fashion, leading to his death.
Ruthann Hellemeyer, personal representative of the estate of David Hellemeyer, deceased, filed a complaint on Nov. 13 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Alton Memorial Hospital, Dr. Narine Sargsyan MD, Dr. Timothy McCollough MD, et al., alleging negligence.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that while under the defendants' care in November 2015, David Hellemeyer suffered an anoxic brain injury due to lack of oxygen and never recovered. He passed away on Nov. 23, 3016, due to cardiopulmonary arrest and multi-organ failure, the suit states.
The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to appreciate, evaluate, monitor and treat the decedent's medical condition, failed to respond in an immediate fashion and failed to follow appropriate support guidelines.
The plaintiff seeks damages of more than $50,000, plus costs expended for this action.
