Man files suit against New Memphis tavern, convenience store operators after crash

BELLEVILLE – Two New Memphis establishments are named in a suit by a driver who alleges he was injured when an intoxicated motorist caused a collision.

Billy Castrogiovanni filed a complaint on Sept. 18 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Stan Denton and Kathy Denton, doing business as Sit N Bull Saloon, and FKG Oil Co., doing business as Mascoutah Motor Mart citing the Dram Shop Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Oct. 21, 2016, he was severely injured when motorist John F. Burr, who was allegedly intoxicated, negligently went through a red light and collided with him. He alleges he sustained injuries to his back, neck and organs. 

The plaintiff holds the Dentons and FKG Oil Co. responsible because the defendants allegedly sold and/or gave intoxicated liquors to Burr to a point that he became intoxicated and unable to properly operate a motor vehicle.

The plaintiff seeks damages of more than $50,000. He is represented by Paul M. Storment Jr. in in Belleville.
