Motorist sues over Godfrey Road collision

Car accident 12

EDWARDSVILLE — A motorist is suing another driver for allegedly causing a collision on Godfrey Road.

Sarah E. Magary-Burns filed a complaint on Oct. 20 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Natasha L. Cheek, alleging she failed to maintain proper control of the vehicle.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Sept. 22, 2016, she was driving a 2010 Nissan Altima northbound on Godfrey Road near the entrance/exit of Casey's General Store when Cheek allegedly caused her 2009 GMC Yukon to collide with her vehicle.

Burns claims she sustained severe injuries resulting in pain and suffering, diminished earnings, loss of enjoyment of life and incurred medical expenses.

The plaintiff alleges Cheek negligently drove her vehicle at an excessive speed, failed to maintain a careful lookout and failed to stop or reduce speed to avoid colliding with her vehicle.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages of more than $50,000, plus costs of this suit and any further relief the court may deem just and proper.

She is represented by Eric J. Carlson of Byron Carlson Petri & Kalb LLC in Edwardsville.
