EDWARDSVILLE — A woman claims she tripped and fell on a metal rod at the Gordmans store in Champaign.

Joyce Clark filed a complaint on Oct. 24 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Gordmans, Gordmans Inc., Stage Stores Inc., and Specialty Retailers Inc., all doing business as Gordmans, alleging they failed to maintain their premises in a reasonably safe condition.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Oct. 24, 2015, she was lawfully at the Gordmans in Champaign when she tripped on a metal rod that was negligently placed on the floor by the employees.

Clark claims she sustained injuries to her collar bone, knees, neck and back and was caused to suffer physical and mental pain, medical bills and other out of pocket expenses.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants' employees, agents and/or servants negligently created a dangerous condition by failing to secure the metal rod and place in a safe location.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages of more than $50,000 plus costs of this action.

She is represented by Michael P. Glisson and Timothy J. Chartrand of Williamson, Webster, Falb & Glisson in Alton.
