Passenger allegedly ejected from overturned vehicle

Car accident 18

BELLEVILLE – A passenger claims he was ejected from a vehicle after it left the roadway and overturned.

Anthony Haislip filed a complaint on Sept. 18 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against William Cornett Jr. and Shekinah Basements LLC, Ryan Musick and Janelle Musick, individually and doing business as Fivestone Foundations or Shekinah Basements, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, on Sept. 26, 2015, the plaintiff was a passenger in a motor vehicle being driven by Cornett on state Route 158 when their vehicle left the roadway and overturned, ejecting the plaintiff from the vehicle.

Haislip claims he sustained severe and permanent injuries resulting in great pain, mental anguish and will be hindered from attending his usual duties and affairs.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to maintain sufficient control of the vehicle he was driving, failed to maintain careful lookout and drove the vehicle at a speed greater than reasonable.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendants of more than $50,000, plus costs of this action.

He is represented by Kenneth B. Beljanski and Jaye R. Lindsay of Brown & Brown LLP in Fairview Heights.
