BELLEVILLE — A software developer is suing a government contractor for alleged wrongful termination after he complained of his supervisor taking too much time off.
Colin J. Bensman filed a complaint on Aug. 29 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Phacil Inc. alleging he was terminated for reporting wrongdoing or violation of public policy.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges his employer failed to investigate his allegations after reporting that his manager was taking too much time off from work in violation of public policy. Bensman claims he was terminated on Sept. 6, 2016.
As a result, he claims he has suffered and will continue to suffer loss of salary in the amount of $125,000 per year, emotional distress and a damaged reputation.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages of more than $350,000, plus costs of this action and any further relief the court may deem just and proper.
