Passenger seeks more than $1 million in damages over I-55 collision

Car accident 33

EDWARDSVILLE – A Madison County woman alleges she was injured in an accident on Interstate 55.

Linda Abert filed a complaint on Sept. 22 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Daniel Knoblauch, Brian Svehla and Teresa Svehla alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on June 2, she was a passenger in a Ford Taurus when the vehicle was rear-ended by the defendants' vehicle on Interstate 55 in Pin Oak Township.  The suit states Knoblauch was driving the Svehlas' vehicle.

As a result, Abert claims she suffered physical injuries, mental anguish and medical expenses.

The plaintiff alleges Knoblauch failed to keep a proper lookout and failed to decrease speed, stop or swerve so as to avoid colliding with another vehicle. She also alleges the Svehlas allowed their vehicle to be operated by a person they knew or should have known would operate the vehicle in a careless manner.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment in an amount of more than $1 million and any other relief the court deems just and equitable.

She is represented by John T. Hipskind and Brady M. McAninch of Hipskind & McAninch LLC in Belleville.
