Willow Creek sued over patient's care

Medical malpractice 02

BELLEVILLE – An estate administrator alleges a Belleville care facility failed to diagnose the development of pressure ulcers in a former resident.

Monique Brooks, as special administrator of the estate of Roxanne Bradford, filed a complaint on Sept. 1 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Helia Healthcare of Belleville LLC, Willow Creek Rehabilitation & Nursing Center LLC, Southern Illinois Health Care Foundation Inc. and John Magner MD, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, Bradford was admitted to Willow Creek in April 2015 as a long-term resident. The plaintiff alleges that while Bradford was in the defendant's care, she developed multiple decubitus ulcer pressure sores that caused her to suffer pain, additional necessary medical expenses and other damages prior to her death.

The plaintiff alleges the decedent's injuries were caused by the negligence and unskillfulness of the defendants.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment in her favor in a sum of more than $50,000, plus costs and any further relief that is fair and reasonable.

She is represented by Antoinette T. Schlaprizzi of Donald L. Schlapprizzi PC in St. Louis.
