Slip01

BELLEVILLE – A woman alleges she was injured at an East St. Louis property when she slipped on a puddle of water from a leaking pipe.

Shelia Crook filed a complaint on Sept. 1 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Sinai Village II GP LLC and McCormack Baron Management Inc., alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Sept. 3, 2015, she was walking in the front of the defendants' property to investigate water seeping from underneath a door. The suit states the plaintiff was injured when a "deluge of water rushed out of the door and caused plaintiff to fall hard to the ground."

The plaintiff alleges the defendants negligently allowed the installation of the defective piping and failed to inspect the property prior to leasing.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages of no less than $50,000, plus costs of this action.

She is represented by Reed Nelson of Nelson & Nelson, Attorneys at Law in Belleville.
