BELLEVILLE – A woman alleges a cone placed in a walkway at an East St. Louis elementary school caused her to fall.

Candy T. Suggs filed a complaint on Aug. 18 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against East St. Louis School District 189, alleging it breached its duty to maintain its premises in a reasonably safe condition.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on March 13, 2014, she was taking her child in Miles D. Davis Elementary School when her foot became caught and tangled in a construction cone left in the door, causing her to trip and fall.

She claims she sustained injuries that caused her to suffer medical expenses, disability, pain and suffering and disfigurement.

The plaintiff alleges East St. Louis School District 189 negligently created a dangerous condition by placing a construction cone in the doorway.

The plaintiff seeks judgment in her favor in an amount of more than $50,000, plus costs and any further relief as the court deems appropriate.

She is represented by Michael L. McGlynn of McGlynn & McGlynn in Belleville.
