BELLEVILLE – A nurse claims she was injured when a ceiling tile and piece of pipe fell on her during ceiling maintenance at an East Alton business.

Chanda Meeks filed a complaint on July 19 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against John Doe and Kane Mechanical Inc. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on July 31, 2015, she was on duty as a nurse working in the course and scope of her employment with Rosewood Care Center when a ceiling tile and a piece of metal or pipe fell on her.

She alleges she sustained injuries to her head, neck, back, right arm and right shoulder.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to warn plaintiff and others working in the area of the potential for falling debris and failed to use reasonable care.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages of more than $50,000, plus interest and all further relief as the court may deem just and proper.

She is represented by John L. Wilbers of The Wilbers Law Firm LLC in Clayton, Mo.
