EDWARDSVILLE – A driver and passenger allege they were injured when another motorist attempted to turn before it was safe to do so and collided with their vehicle.
Deborah Cox and Crystal Smith filed a complaint on July 24 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Mary Bowens, alleging negligence.
According to the complaint, on Aug. 9, 2015, Cox was driving northbound on Humbert Street with Smith as her passenger when Bowens attempted to turn left, colliding with their vehicle.
As a result, the plaintiffs claim they suffered physical injuries and incurred medical expenses.
The plaintiffs allege Bowens failed to keep her vehicle under proper control, failed to brake her vehicle in time to avoid striking the vehicle and failed to steer her vehicle to avoid striking the vehicle.
The plaintiffs seek judgment for a sum of more than $50,000, plus costs of suit, and any other relief the court deems just and proper.
They are represented by Samuel A. Mormino Jr. of Mormino, Velloff & Snider PC in Alton.
