Customer sues Jack in the Box over slip, fall at Granite City restaurant

Slip01

EDWARDSVILLE – A woman alleges she was injured at a Granite City Jack in the Box when she slipped and fell.

Judith Parker and Bryan Parker filed a complaint on July 26 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Jack in the Box Inc. alleging that the defendant failed to exercise ordinary and reasonable care to protect those lawfully on its premises.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on Feb. 28, 2016, Judith Parker was at the defendant's Granite City property when she allegedly slipped and fell. She claims slipped on a paper liner and the floor was slippery from a cleaning solution.

As a result, Judith Parker claims she suffered physical injuries and incurred medical costs. Bryan Parker alleges he has lost society companionship of his wife.

The plaintiffs allege Jack in the Box failed to keep the floor in the front of the counter free of debris and free of slippery cleaning substance and failed to warn its business invitees that the floor was slippery.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment in an amount of more than $50,000 for their costs, and for such further relief the court deems proper and just.

They are represented by James E. Parrot of James E. Parrot Law Office in St. Louis.
