Former Village Drive Inn employee says owner inappropriately touched her

Wrongful term 11

EDWARDSVILLE — A woman is suing the owners of the Village Drive Inn, citing alleged sexual harassment and wrongful termination.

Savanah Stogsdill filed a complaint on June 29 in Madison County Circuit Court against Jeff Johnson and Becky Johnson, alleging they violated the Illinois Human Rights Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that between May 2016 and June 2017, during plaintiff's employment with the defendants as a cook, she was allegedly sexually harassed when Jeff Johnson intentionally kept touching her rear end.

Despite her protest, the harassment allegedly continued, the suit states.

Stogsdill alleges she was terminated after telling Becky Johnson about numerous harassment incidents.

As a result, Stogsdill claims she suffered emotional distress, humiliation and loss of wages and benefits.

The plaintiff alleges Jeff Johnson made numerous comments of a sexual nature to her, created a hostile or offensive working environment that seriously affected her psychological well-being and terminated her for making a complaint about the sexual harassment.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment for compensatory and punitive damages in excess of $50,000, plus attorney fees, costs of suit and other further relief the court deems proper.

She is represented by Thomas G. Maag of Maag Law Firm LLC in Wood River.
