BELLEVILLE — A woman is suing Lutheran Child and Family Services of Illinois for allegedly terminating her employment because of her race.

Kendra Jones filed a complaint on April 25 in St. Clair County Circuit Court, alleging the defendant violated the Civil Rights Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Oct. 26, 2016, she was terminated from her employment on the basis of her race and color.

The plaintiff, who is African-American, claims she suffered loss of wages and benefits, emotional distress, mental anguish and other pecuniary and non-pecuniary losses.

Jones alleges Lutheran Child and Family Services subjected her to a hostile work environment, discrimination, harassment, retaliation and termination of her employment for filing a complaint with the EEOC.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount in excess of $50,000, plus costs of this suit and all other relief as the court may deem just and proper.

She is represented by Michael J. Brunton of Brunton Law Offices in Collinsville.
