BELLEVILLE — A woman is suing Metro after she allegedly tripped and fell on debris at the East St. Louis train stop.

Lisa Mayes filed a complaint on March 17 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Bi-State Development Agency of the Missouri-Illinois Metropolitan District, doing business as Metro, alleging the defendant failed to remove debris and adequately illuminate the premises to avoid the accident.

According to the complaint, Mayes alleges that on Nov. 18, 2016, she tripped and fell on debris on the pavement while attempting to walk up a ramp to the platform at the East St. Louis train stop.

As a result, Mayes claims she suffered physical injuries and lost wages and incurred medical expenses.

The plaintiff alleges Metro failed to manage or supervise debris removal services on the premises, failed to properly inspect the premises and failed to properly warn people about the dangerous conditions on the premises.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment in an amount exceeding $50,000 together with costs of suit and any other relief that the court deems just.

She is represented by Derek J. Siegel of Kuehn, Beasley and Young PC in Belleville.
