Valvoline Oil Change denies liability in slip, fall suit

Slip02

Valvoline Oil Change denies liability in a customer’s suit alleging she was injured when she slipped on a patch of oil.

Teri Dent filed a complaint on Dec. 10 against Ashland Consumer Markets, doing business as Valvoline Oil Change.

In her complaint, Dent alleges that on Aug. 28 she fell on a patch of oil on the floor while exiting her vehicle.

She alleges the defendant failed to monitor the floor to prevent oil from spilling and failed to clean the spilled oil from the floor.

Ashland Consumer Markets answered the complaint on Feb. 17 through attorney Julia Claire Kaltenbach of Williams Venker & Sanders LLC in St. Louis.

The defendant alleges the plaintiff’s claims are barred and that her own negligence contributed to her alleged damages.

The defendant also argues that the alleged damages existed prior to Dent’s visit to Valvoline Oil Change.

It requested the court dismiss the complaint with prejudice.

Dent is represented by Alvin Paulson of Belleville.
