BELLEVILLE — A driver is suing Kenneth Laux of Greenville citing alleged insufficient measures were taken to prevent injuries for his part in a car crash.
Kevin Mensing filed a complaint on March 2 in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Laux alleging that he failed to exercise reasonable care in the operation and control of his vehicle.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that, on April 1, 2015, he was driving eastbound on I-64 near mile post 17 when he collided with the defendant's sports utility vehicle, damaging the rear of the plaintiff's 2001 Lexus. As a result, Mensing claims he suffered physical injuries and loss of wages and incurred medical expenses. The plaintiff holds Laux responsible because he allegedly failed to reduce his speed to avoid a collision, allowed a distraction to interfere with his driving and failed to see and observe plaintiff's automobile.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment in excess of $50,000 plus costs of suit and such other and further relief as the court deems just. He is represented by Patricia A. Zimmer of Ripplinger and Zimmer LLC in Belleville.
