With 87 percent of precincts reporting in the Fifth Judicial District, Republican appellate court candidates John Barberis and James "Randy" Moore appear to have won their races.

Barberis, circuit judge in Madison County and facing Williamson County Circuit Judge Brad Bleyer, Democart, is ahead by a margin of 56 to 44 percent, or 274,190 to 212,111 votes.

Moore, appellate justice by appointment and up against Jefferson County Circuit Court Judge Jo Beth Weber, is ahead by a margin of 55 percent to 45 percent, or 276,833 to 229,281.

The East St. Louis Board of Elections is the only office not reporting any result in all 37 counties of the district. In St. Clair County, seven precincts remain to be counted.

Approximately 40,000 votes remain uncounted in the district.

Several other counties in southern Illinois did not have complete vote total reports available, including Saline, Richland, Hardin, Christian and Gallatin. Those counties either lean Republican or are balanced evenly Republican to Democrat.
