Car accident 24

BELLEVILLE — A Marissa woman is suing a taxi driver and taxi companies, alleging their negligence caused injuries to the plaintiff.

Chelsea Wegener filed a lawsuit June 23 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Altes-1 LLC, formerly known as Ace Transport of St. Charles LLC, doing business as Ace Transport of St. Charles, doing business as Ace Cab, and Ace Transportation of St. Charles LLC, doing business Ace Cab of St. Charles, and Ace Cab of St. Charles LLC, Wagner failed to keep his vehicle under proper and sufficient control.

According to the complaint, on July 19, 2014, Wagner was driving an automobile southbound in the northbound lane on Admiral Parkway in Columbia, when he negligently collided Brian Baker's vehicle, causing it to collide with Wegener's car. As a direct result, the suit says, she suffered injuries to her back, neck, legs, pain, and incurred medical expenses.

Wegener alleges Wagner operated his vehicle at an excessive rate of speed, failed to exercise ordinary degree of care, failed to keep proper lookout, failed to sound warning, and failed to yield right of way. The suit alleges the cab companies negligently entrusted the taxi to Wagner.

Wegener seeks a trial by jury, judgment of more than $50,000, compensatory damages and such other relief as the court deems appropriate and just. She is represented by attorney James E. Hopkins of Brown & Crouppen PC in St. Louis.
