BELLEVILLE — A Madison County woman is suing a Collinsville motorist, alleging his negligence led to the plaintiff suffering injuries.
Laura Meyer filed a lawsuit June 23 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Steven Torres, alleging negligence in carelessly operating his motor vehicle.
According to the complaint, on June 25, 2014, Meyer was driving a 2003 Toyota Echo on East Ofallon Drive in Fairview Heights, and Torres was operating a 2001 Chevrolet Monte Carlo. The suit says Torres approached Meyer at an excessive rate of speed on the wrong side of the roadway and collided with her vehicle, causing her to sustain injuries to her back and suffer physical pain and suffering, loss of enjoyment of life and medical expenses.
The plaintiff alleges Torres failed to reduce speed, failed to keep his vehicle on the right lane, failed to keep proper lookout and operated the vehicle on the wrong side of the road.
Meyer seeks a trial by jury, judgment of more than $50,000, legal costs, and other relief the court deems just. She is represented by attorney Ryan J. Mahoney of Cates Mahoney LLC in Swansea.
