Mother, daughter blame Madison County motorist for causing crash

Law money 04

EDWARDSVILLE — A mother is suing a Madison County motorist, alleging his negligence caused a vehicle crash that resulted in injuries to the plaintiff's daughter.

Hannah E, Schultz, a minor, by and through her mother and next friend Ann M. Thornberry, filed a lawsuit June 24 in Madison County Circuit Court against Anthony R. Dobbins Jr., alleging he was negligent and disregarded his duty to use reasonable care and caution driving his motor vehicle.

According to the complaint, on June 19, 2016, Dobbins was driving his motor vehicle with Schultz as his passenger near the Woodlands Golf Club in Alton. The suit says Dobbins was involved in an accident, causing Schultz to sustain severe and permanent injuries to her head, adrenal gland, back, liver, pelvis, lungs and body.

The plaintiffs allege Dobbins negligently and carelessly operated his vehicle, failed to keep his vehicle in his proper lane, failed to slow and/or stop his vehicle on time and failed to keep proper lookout.

Ann Thornberry and Hannah Schultz seek a trial by jury, judgment of more than $50,000, legal costs and such other relief as the court deems just and proper. They are represented by attorney William E. Miller III of Alton.
