Status conference is set in a lighting company's pursuit of more than $100,000 in unpaid invoices for materials provided to a commercial sign installer which filed bankruptcy last year.
Cool City Lights LLC sued Midwest Sunray Lighting & Sign Maintenance Company Inc. in 2013 in Madison County Circuit Court, claiming it sold more than $225,000 in lighting materials and components to Midwest Sunray between December 2012 and August 2013.
Represented by Glen Bradford of Edwardsville, Cool City Lights claims Midwest Sunray had only paid about $121,000 of its balance and owes more than $103,000.
The defendant had been represented by attorneys from Sandberg Phoenix and von Gontard, but withdrew last August, two months after notice was filed with the court that Midwest Sunray Lighting's registered agent George Grindstaff of New Douglas had filed for Chapter 7 in the Southern District of Illinois bankruptcy court.
The company had answered the suit in December 2013, saying that Cool City had supplied it with defective materials, and when its customers complained, was required to repair or replace.
Circuit Judge Barbara Crowder granted Cool City's motion for default judgment in January.
In March, a docket setting related to proving damages was continued. Status hearing is set for 9 a.m. on June 24.
