EDWARDSVILLE — A former Lowe's employee is suing Marilyn Elick, a vehicle operator, alleging negligence and insufficient measures taken to prevent injuries.

Kim Pohlman filed a complaint on June 10, in Madison County Circuit Court against Elick alleging that the vehicle operator failed to obey traffic rules and regulations.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Jan. 14, 2015, after completing her shift and while walking to the parking lot, she was struck by a vehicle being driven by the defendant and was caused to sustain injuries to her face, right arm, right hip and tailbone. She also incurred medical expenses and lost sums of money that she could earn as an able-bodied person. The plaintiff holds Marilyn Elick responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to keep her vehicle under control, failed to keep proper lookout, drove at a speed faster then normal and failed to slow down.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant for a sum in excess of $50,000. She is represented by Samuel A. Mormino of Mormino, Veloff & Snider PC in Alton.
