EDWARDSVILLE — A woman is suing Lutheran Senior Services, the owner of Meridian Village, citing neglidgence and alleging that insufficient measures were taken to prevent injuries.

Marjorie Bogart filed a complaint on June 8 in Madison County Circuit Court against Lutheran Senior Services, alleging that the Meridian Village owner failed to hire competent and skilled staff.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that, on Jan. 17, 2015, while she was a resident at Meridian Village, she sustained serious injuries to her head while the defendant's staff used a Hoyer Lift to transfer her to her bed. As a result of her injuries, she has suffered and will continue to suffer pain and suffering and medical expenses, she alleges. The plaintiff holds Lutheran Senior Services responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to properly train and supervise its employees, agents or staff.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgement in her favor in an amount exceeding $50,000 and for any other relief as the court deems just and equitable. She is represented by Brian R. Kalb of Byron Carlson Petri & Kalb LLC in Edwardsville.
