EDWARDSVILLE — A man is suing Dr. Bijoy Hegde and OSF Healthcare System, medical providers, citing alleged negligence.
Clinton Champlin filed a complaint on May 31 in Madison County Circuit Court against the defendants, alleging that they failed to prescribe proper medication.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on April 8, 2015, he had a stroke and the next day was transferred from a St. Louis hospital to OSF St. Clare's, where he received the medicine Eliquis until his April 23, 2015, discharge. After that, he says, he was not prescribed Eliquis, and allegedly suffered a second stroke that caused him to sustain debilitating injuries. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because they allegedly failed to ensure that he continued on Eliquis or other similar anticoagulant medication.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount in excess of $75,000. He is represented by Thomas Q. Keefe, III of Keefe, Keefe & Unsel PC in Belleville.
