EDWARDSVILLE — A driver is suing Raymond Hunt, a Glen Carbon resident, claiming the defendant backed out of his driveway in a negligent fashion that led to a collision.
Robert Williams filed a complaint on May 25 in Madison County Circuit Court against Hunt, alleging that the defendant failed to use reasonable precautions to avoid a crash.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on May 29, 2014, while he was operating a 2008 Honda Accord and was traveling south on Highway 159, the defendant failed to yield and stop when reversing out of his driveway, causing the two vehicles to collide. As a result of the collision, the plaintiff allegedly suffered severe injuries. The plaintiff holds Hunt responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to keep proper lookout, failed to exercise the highest degree of care under the circumstances and operated his vehicle at a dangerous speed.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant in a reasonable amount in excess of $50,000, costs incurred and for such other relief as the court deems just and proper. He is represented by Jay L. Kanzel, Jr. and Coren N. Brown of Witzel, Kanzler & Dimmit LLC in St. Louis.
