Patient claims dermatologist injected her with wrong substance

Medical malpractice 02

BELLEVILLE – A dermatology patient is suing over the administration of an allegedly incorrect substance to her face.

Virginia Bennett filed the suit April 26 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Steven E. Musick, MD, and Musick Dermatology LLC.

On April 30, 2014, Bennett was at the office of Musick for a Juvederm injection to her upper lip and treatment of varicose veins in her legs, according the complaint, which alleges that Musick injected a saline solution to Bennett's upper lip instead of the Juvederm.

As a result of the doctor's alleged negligence and medical malpractice, Bennett has experienced permanent disability, injuries and medical expenses, the suit says.

Bennett seeks judgment of an amount in excess of $50,000 plus costs of the suit for both counts. She also demands a trial by jury. She is represented by Jack A. Strellis of Strellis & Field in Waterloo.
