Plaintiff claims driver hit his car when she pulled away from curb

Car accident 43

BELLEVILLE – A motorist is suing over injuries he allegedly received when the side and rear of his vehicle were struck.

Michael King filed the suit April 28 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Alyssa Rush.

On March 1, King was driving eastbound on Martin Luther King Drive in East St. Louis when Rush allegedly pulled her vehicle out from a parking space on the curb and struck the rear and side of his vehicle, the suit says.

According to the complaint, Rush was negligent because she followed King's vehicle more closely than was reasonable and proper, she failed to keep a proper lookout, and she failed to yield the right of way to oncoming traffic, to name a few allegations.

King seeks judgment against Rush in an amount in excess of $50,000 plus court costs. He is represented by Michelle M. Rich, Thomas C. Rich and Kristina D. Cooksey of Thomas C. Rich PC in Fairview Heights.
