Man claims motorist drove too closely, causing collision

Car accident 23

BELLEVILLE – The driver of a motor vehicle is suing over injuries he claims he received when the another vehicle collided with his.

Ryan J. Missey filed the suit April 22 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against David M. Potts.

On May 10, 2014, Missey claims he was driving northbound on Route 111, entering the westbound ramp approaching Interstate 64 in Washington Park, the suit states. At the same time and place, Potts was also driving northbound and entering the westbound ramp of the interstate.

Missey claims Potts negligently caused a collision by failing to keep his vehicle under proper control, failing to keep a proper lookout, driving too closely behind the plaintiff's vehicle and failing to stop to avoid a collision.

As a result, Missey claims he was injured in his nervous system, he continues to suffer mental pain and anguish, and he has amassed medical bills, the suit states.

In addition to a trial by a jury of six, the plaintiff seeks judgment in excess of $50,000 plus court costs. He is represented by Jeanne L. AuBuchon of AuBuchon & Lee LLC in Belleville.
