Plaintiff claims physician failed to properly treat broken hip

Medical malpractice 05

EDWARDSVILLE – A medical patient is suing over allegedly negligent medical care regarding a leg fracture.

Kathy Stevenson filed the suit April 20 in Madison County Circuit Court against Dr. Randall Rogalsky and Alton Multispecialists Ltd.

Defendant Rogalsky is an employee of defendant Alton Multispecialists as it pertains to the treatment of the plaintiff.

On April 21, 2014, the plaintiff went to the defendant doctor for treatment of a left femoral neck fracture; the defendant Rogalsky elected not to perform surgery at that time and followed the plaintiff until about April 30, 2014, the suit says.

On March 24, 2015, the plaintiff was diagnosed with a closed displaced fracture of her left femoral neck with nonunion, and the next day she underwent a left total hip arthroplasty, according to the suit.

The suit alleges that the defendants' negligence included their treatment of the plaintiff's hip, failure to diagnose the hip fracture, failed to advise the plaintiff of the risks of not performing surgery, and failure to diagnose two medical conditions.

As a result of the alleged negligence, the plaintiff has had to undergo additional medical care, which has caused and will cause future pain and suffer and medical expenses. She further has lost wages and will continue to do so into the future, the suit says.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount in excess of the jurisdictional limits plus court costs. She is represented by Thomas G. Kemper of Butler & Kemper in Granite City.
