BELLEVILLE – An aviation services firm has filed a lawsuit alleging that a defective device caused damage to an aircraft while an employee was cleaning the fuselage.
Jet Aviation St. Louis Inc. filed the suit April 5 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Honeywell International Inc. and Honeywell Safety Products USA Inc.
In July 2012, the plaintiff was preparing an aircraft for delivery, the suit says. Jet Aviation claims that in order to clean the fuselage, its employee needed fall protection. At one point a piece of the safety equipment — designed, manufactured, distributed and sold by the defendants — detached and hit the aircraft, causing damage, according to the complaint.
Even though the plaintiff allegedly notified the defendants of the incident on July 28, 2012, the defendant has yet to pay for the full value of the damages, the suit says.
In addition to a trial by jury, the plaintiff requests a judgment for compensatory, incidental and consequential damages, attorney fees, interest and other relief the court deems appropriate.
The plaintiff is represented by Christine F. Miller and Randal K.Mullendore of Husch Blackwell LLP in St. Louis and Jennifer L. Dlugosz of Husch Blackwell LLP in Chicago.
